John W.
Hi. My name is John W. I'm 35 years old, I grew up on the Near West side of Chicago. I have a beautiful 12 year old daughter. I majored in Speech, Theater and Broadcasting in college and have aspirations to build a media company.
I have been a resident of the Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation program since Feb. 14th of this year. I am now an intake clerk and help to assist others in breaking free of the bondage of substance abuse and homelessness.
The change that I have desperately needed in my life has finally begun to manifest itself. It took many weeks but with the help of my supervisor, our pastor and counselors who have shared their similar experiences and how they continue to overcome them I have finally begun to grow spiritually and to approach life from a far more positive perspective. I have begun to realize that I cannot change the world - but I can change my reactions to the challenges of everyday life. I am happily aware that the void that I have been trying to fill can only be filled by a closer spiritual walk with God - and for that I am grateful.
